Do I have to register to post an Ad on Trading Post?
Yes, you must register to post an ad. The registration process is simple and free. There is no cost to post an ad, reply to an ad or to use the Trading Post web site. Please follow the instructions below to post your Ad.

How do I post an Ad?
There is no charge to post your item on Trading Post. However, please note that all ads must fit into one of the photographic related categories on the web site. To post your ad:
  • Click the "Post Ad" tab at the top of any page.
  • Chose a category for your Ad.
  • Enter a title, price, and description. You may also upload from 1 to 3 photos or your item.
  • Enter your postal code.
  • Enter your email address and click the "Post My Ad" button.
  • Check your email for an Ad Posted Confirmation link in that email.
  • Click the link and your ad will appear on the Trading Post web site.

How do I include images in my Ad?
When you are on the "Post Ad" click the "Browse..." button which appears under the Images heading. Select a picture file from your computer and click "Upload". The picture will then be uploaded and displayed with your Ad. You can upload up to three more pictures.

Can I use HTML tags or URLs in my ads?
We do not allow HTML or linkable URLs on the site. When you create your ad's description, you may select the font, text size, and other ways of adding emphasis. When adding a URL to your listing, it should be for purposes of providing additional information about the specific item or service offered in the Ad.

Why photographic equipment only?
Trading Post was started as an online meeting place for those interested in photography who want to sell or trade photographic related items. It is an extension of CameraCanada.com, a Canadian online retailer owned and operated by Forest City Image Centre. We expect the majority of posted ads will be for used items, as the site is intended for individuals, rather than retail establishments.

How can I increase the responses to my ad?
To increase the chance of getting a good response, follow these tips:
  • Include one or more pictures in your Ad.
  • Make the title and description as detailed as possible. For example, when selling a product include its brand, model number, condition, and features.
  • If you are flexible on price, state that you will accept "best offer".
  • Make it easy for buyer to pick up the item; let them know where the item is located and when you will be available.
  • Spread the word! The more people who visit Trading Post, the better chance your item has of being seen and sold!

Why have I not received a confirmation email?
If you have not received your confirmation email, please check your Junk email folder in your email program to see if the confirmation email from email ended up there.

Why was my ad removed or not posted?
There are several reasons why an Ad may have been removed from the site including:

  • The ad was not for a product related to photography.
  • A user may have flagged the Ad as being spam or offensive.
  • The Ad expired automatically 31 days after it was posted.

  • These policies include, but are not limited to the following:
